România are.

28. Club Midi

Address: Cluj-Napoca, Romania Capacity: 1200 Web: clubmidi.ro

Kitsch pop twins the Cheeky Girls may have grown up in the eastern European country’s fourth biggest city Cluj, but – on the cooler side of the tracks – Club Midi has been helping put the cultural centre on the international stage with a discerning booking policy and mad-for-it crowds. Club Midi opened its doors again in September after what owner Cristian describes as a „facelift”. The club’s soundsystem was beefed up further and the lighting system added to for impressive cascading visual treats. Steve Lawler played the re-opening party, and since then cool international DJs like Magda, Tania Vulcano, Loco Dice, Booka Shade, Cassy, Marco Carola, Valentino Kanzyani and Satoshi Tomiie have spun there, along with Romanian DJs like [A:RPIA:R] and Livo & Roby.

Spre rușinea mea, încă nu am ajuns la Studio Martin care se poționează pe:

34. Studio Martin

Address: Bucharest, Romania Capacity: 1000 Web: studiomartin.ro

The immovable bedrock of Romania’s underground scene, Studio Martin’s techno heritage extends far beyond the point when minimal dilettantes starting waxing lyrical about Raresh, Rhadoo and Pedro. Opening in 1993 and championing quality techno ever since, this former cinema was the place where DJs like Laurent Garnier, Derrick May and Jeff Mills played their first Romanian gigs, while James Lavelle recorded his ‘Romania’ instalment to the Global Underground series here. And despite other clubs joining the Romanian party, Studio Martin still has both history and heritage on its side – Cocoon, M-Nus, Cécille, Kompakt and Bpitch Control all host semi-regular showcases here.

Eh, puțin mai spre final se află și preferatul meu, unde am fost la multe evenimente faine:

87. Kristal Glam Club

Address: Bucharest, Romania Capacity: 1000 Web: clubkristal.ro

Don’t let the name deceive you into thinking this place is packed full of clueless champagne sipping blingsters listening to r&b for you’d be well off. More sleekly hi-tech than tacky glam, the impressive Bucharest venue boasts 17 video screens, an army of strobes, dry ice canons and a cutting-edge Dynachord system, but none of it would count for jack if it weren’t for the grade A booking policy -Ricardo Villalobos, Sasha, Marco Carola and Steve Lawler are all returning regulars, as are national treasures Raresh, Rhadoo and Petre aka the A:rpia:r trio.
